Recognised as a Senior Statesman in dispute resolution

Philip is a highly experienced mediator with a proven track record of assisting parties settle a wide range of disputes, including those involving complex financial issues.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in the law – Philip was Chairman of Partners at Sydney law firm Henry Davis York until October 2015. He retired from the partnership of Henry Davis York on 30 June 2016.

During his long career Philip has developed a reputation as a leading lawyer in litigation, banking and insolvency, working for Australia’s top financial institutions.

He is regarded as an expert in alternative dispute resolution and resolved some of this county’s most complex legal cases. Philip is a regular presenter on alternative dispute resolution and mediation.

In 2014, Chambers Asia Pacific recognised him as a Senior Statesman in dispute resolution and restructuring and insolvency.

During his distinguished career Philip has assisted big companies, high net-worth individuals and families, settle disputes. He has also assisted a number of individuals and charities on a pro bono basis to resolve disputes.

His frontline experience, mixed with his common touch and his passion to help people, make him one of Australia’s best mediators.

He is highly regarded not only by the legal profession, but at the highest level in business, government and non-government sectors.

Philip has assisted many people develop successful careers and is an active contributor to the community.

He is a board member of the  Bravehearts Inc and is passionate about his work in assisting victims of child sexual assault.

On 9 June 2016, Philip was appointed by the NSW State Government as the Chairperson of the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority for a term of three years.

His qualifications include BA LLB, member of INSOL International, member of the ARITA , and member of the Banking Law and Financial Services Association.
